TOKYO, Nov 2 (Reuters) – AI lab Anthropic will offer up to 552.9 billion yen ($3.5 billion) worth of shares to investors in Japan, according to a filing submitted on Monday, as part of its plans for a U.S. stock market listing.
The announcement states that the new shares issued to Japanese investors will be used to raise working capital, as well as to cover operating expenses and capital expenditures.
The filing did not specify the size or valuation of the IPO. Reuters has previously reported that some investors have discussed a valuation for the company of approximately $1.5 trillion.
Mizuho Securities will lead the share offering in Japan, while firms including Goldman Sachs, Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities, and Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities will handle subscription applications, the filing shows.
When SpaceX (SPCX.O) held its IPO in June—the largest in history—Japanese investors subscribed for $2.2 billion worth of shares, out of a total of $75 billion raised.
